We miss you so much!  We Love you!  Papa y Mama you are in our hearts every single day.  Your lives in God comfort us always.  Your spirit, light and protection are always with us. Your smiles and love are engraved in our hearts forever!
Our Papa was a man of few words.  Hardworking, Passionate, Loving, Kind.  He left us with something more than words can describe.  His legacy.
Our Father was a Blessing to all of us - Let us reflect and be joyous through all of our wonderful memories we have of our Papa. 
God was there for Papa through it all.  He carried us through all of his pain, sorrow, joys, triumphs. 
God lift up our hearts in our times of sorrow, so that we can continue to live our lives through you and Our Beloved Mamasita.  Strengthen us as a family.  You have showered us with your Blessings Dear Lord and all of the Blessings that our Father and Mother have given us.

My Eulogy to our Papa "Mencho" at his celebration mass on Wednesday, October 13th says it all.

THE DAY WE HOPED AND PRAYED WOULD NEVER COME HAS COME.  OUR PAPA IS GONE NOW.  HE IS IN HEAVEN NOW WITH OUR MAMACITA.  HE LEFT US, YEARNING, CRAVING, WANTING MORE OF HIM.  LIKE A ROCK STAR.  LIKE ELVIS.  WE WILL FOREVER TREASURE ALL THE MEMORIES AND THE TONS OF PICTURES AND COLLAGES WE PUT TOGETHER OF HIM AND THAT GREAT SLIDE PRESENTATION FROM LAST NIGHT.  GOOD JOB EVERYONE AND GEORGE . . . YOU GET THE MENCHO OFFCIAL SEAL OF APPROVAL.  “MENCHO OK SIGN.”  

OUR PAPACITO, OUR MENCHO WAS TRULY A GREAT MAN!!!  HE WAS A LEGEND IN HIS OWN TIME.  HE WAS AN INSPIRATION TO US ALL.  HE WAS OUR HERO.  WE ALL WANTED HIM TO LIVE FOREVER.  AFTER ALL HE WAS SUPERMAN!!!  WASN’T HE???  HE WAS “OUR SUPER MAN.”  AS WE ALL KNOW NOTHING LASTS FOREVER IN THIS WORLD.  WELL, OUR MENCHO ALMOST MADE IT!!!  HE WAS GOING TO TURN 99 THIS HALLOWEEN, OCTOBER 31ST.  IMAGINE THAT!!!  ALMOST 100 YEARS!!!  AND FOR THAT WE CAN ALL BE VERY THANKFUL.  HE GOT TO LIVE A LONG AND UP UNTIL A MONTH AGO A HEALTHY GOOD LIFE.  

AND WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY IT HAS BEEN FOR OUR MENCHO.  HE ALWAYS MANAGED TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE ALL OF OUR LIVES BETTER.  FROM HIS HUMBLE BEGINNINGS IN CHARCAS, SAN LUIS POTOSI, MEXICO WORKING IN “LA MINA” THE MINES AND THEN LATER AS HE WORKED HIS WAY UP TO LEAD MACHINIST IN THE MACHINE SHOP, MENCHO WAS ALREADY THINKING ABOUT HIS NEXT BIG MOVE.  HE ALWAYS HAD HIS FAMILY IN MIND AND I GUESS HE QUICKLY FIGURED OUT THAT HE HAD TO DO MORE THAN JUST WORK IN THE MINES IN OUR HOME TOWN TO SUPPORT HIS FAMILY.  HE WAS DETERMINED TO FIND A WAY TO GIVE HIS FAMILY A BETTER LIFE.  

SO IN 1957, OUR PAPA, OUR MENCHO, OUR SUPERMAN SOMEHOW FOUND A WAY TO MAKE IT TO THE UNITED STATES . . . KEEP IN MIND NOW, NOT KNOWING A WORD OF ENGLISH AND WITH A LIMITED EDUCATION, YET OUR MENCHO FOUND A WAY TO MAKE A DECENT LIVING.  AT ONE JOB I REMEMBER HIM WORKING FROM 6:00 AM TO 6:00 PM PLUS AN HOUR DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK IN A ROUGH PART OF THE TOWN.  AND HE WAS ADAMANT ABOUT GETTING TO WORK ON TIME AND NEVER MISSED A DAY OF WORK.  I REMEMBER HIM TELLING ME TO ALWAYS DO THAT IN MY JOBS.

TO THIS DAY I DO NOT KNOW HOW HE DID IT.  BUT HE DID IT FOR YEARS WITHOUT FAIL JUST SO HE COULD PUT HIS FOUR KIDS THROUGH SCHOOL.  AND JUST SO HE COULD PUT A ROOF OVER OUR HEADS AND JUST SO THAT WE WOULD NEVER, AND I MEAN NEVER GO A DAY WITHOUT FOOD ON OUR TABLE.  PLEASE NOTE EXHIBIT A.  (I KNOW I NEVER MISSED A MEAL).

I KNOW THIS IS A VERY SAD TIME FOR US ALL,  BUT WE CAN TAKE COMFORT AND JOY IN KNOWING THAT HE IS NOW IN A BETTER PLACE WITH OUR MAMA.  HE IS IN HEAVEN NOW.  I JUST HOPE THEY HAVE SOME NICE WARM ATOLE READY FOR HIM EVERY MORNING.  FOR THOSE THAT DON’T KNOW, “ATOLE” OR “CHAMPURRADO” IS A CORN BASED CHOCOLATEY DRINK HE LOVED IN THE MORNING, AFTERNOON AND NIGHT.  AND EVERY OTHER TIME IN BETWEEN FOR THAT MATTER.  

THANK YOU MENCHO FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES.  THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR US.  THANK YOU FOR BRINGING US TO THE UNITED STATES!!!  WE ALL LOVE AND ADORE YOU SO VERY MUCH.  WE WILL NEVER, NEVER FORGET YOU!!!  

WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR LITTLE SAYINGS AND CUTE THINGS YOU DID.  LIKE HOW YOU WOULD ALWAYS SAY “NEXT” WHEN YOU WANTED US TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT TOPIC.  AND HOW YOU NEVER WENT ANYWHERE WITHOUT YOUR “CACHUCHA” EVEN IN THE HOUSE AND WHILE YOU SLEPT.  “PLANCHANDO OREJA” AS YOU WOULD SAY.  AND HOW WHEN YOU WOULD LOSE YOUR GLASSES AND WALLET AND WE WOULD ALL GO CRAZY LOOKING FOR THEM AND SOMEHOW THEY ALWAYS WOUND UP UNDER YOUR BED BEHIND YOUR HEAD REST.  

AND WE WILL NEVER FORGET HOW YOU JUST LOVED TO SIT IN YOUR “OFICINA” LIKE A KING OVERLOOKING HIS KINGDOM AND HIS “BORACHOS” AS HE AFFECTIONATELY CALLED HIS TENANTS.  AND HOW YOU SENT YOUR BLOWING KISSES TO TO US AFTER VISITING WITH YOU.  AND FOR SURE WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR FAMOUS SIGN OF APPROVAL.  THE MENCHO “OK” SIGN.  OK FAMILY, ALL TOGETHER NOW:  LET’S GIVE MENCHO THE OK SIGN.

Thank You Mr. Rojas for having the courage to bring your family to the United States. You allowed us the joy of having some of the most kindest friends that anyone could hope for. My deepest sympathies on your loss.

My dear Papacito, I am so fortunate to have had a wonderful and loving father for so many years. Like Tino said in his eulogy yesterday, we "craved" for more of you. You were our inspiration to live our lives with responsibility and dignity. You brought us up in a strict, but disciplined environment. Our home was always full of family, love and great home cooking! You worked hard all of your life and always was able to provide for us. You were strong as an ox and just never thought you would leave us so soon. We will miss you. Please tell Mama we will be fine. After all, we have you both now to watch over us. A wonderful man that I have known for over 34 years. Love you Papa. You were a very hard working man and sitting around was never your option. You were always busy doing something in the house or next door. I remember when I first met you, you wanted me to take you to your job that you were retiring from as a tool and die maker. I was honored to do that for you. You had a very long retirement that many people will never see. You were a wise man and very much a family man and remember the times you and your wife flirting with each other. I was your son-in-law for almost 20 years and you were the best father-in-law anyone could have.  You are in a better place where you will probably still be busy as you were here in your earthly body.You will be missed and loved by many and remembered for the extraordinary man that you were.
