Somehow it's already been 3 years. I still think about you everyday. I still have thoughts of what I could have done differently or what could have been. I miss you so much. I love you always. 

A year has passed and it doesn't even seem like it. How have you been gone so long when I can still remember seeing you for the last time as if it were yesterday? There isn't a day I don't think about you. I always miss you. I'll always love you.

In this Christmas season,  I find myself constantly thinking of you and Knowing you won't be with us in our family celebrations. I miss you and wish you were still with us.  Rest In Peace brother, I will always love you.

 Tio Raul was an extraordinary man. There are many in the community who will deeply morn his passing as his life of service,love,compassion and excellence. 
  I was a very trouble child in my teen years. Tio Raul try to help me and set me straight. In someways he did help.
 Thank you for caring that much for me Tio Raul. I appreciate everything that you did and I will never forget it I love you so much for that.
 I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you in your time of need. I know you are in heaven watching down on us . You are our Guardian Angel now and will guide us through the tough times in our life . Rest in Peace Tio Raul

Te fuiste y no me dijistés adiós. Tú no sabes el dolor que tengo en mi corazón. No dejo de pensar en tí des de chiquito, no querrias dormir solo. Yo te llevava a dormir con nosotros. Te cantaba y te arroyaba y te dormías.  Me acuerdo cuando te empujaron a la cantarilla. Tu hermano Chuy vino a decir que te habías lastimado y imidiatamente corree y te abrase con mucho amor y te cure.    Raul my brother, Godfather to Reina my daughter. I am one of many who witnessed your amazing life.  Raul the silly clown. Raul the rough & tough adolescent, surviving in the barrios of Chicago's Pilsen.  Raul my role model as the first in the family to serve in the United States Army.  Raul who felt whole when his family was happy and safe. 
    Raul, as you met people throughout your life you allowed some to plant a seed of love in your heart. My deepest regret is not helping you tend to your garden. I should have been there to help you pull the weeds out of your life. 
    Raul, you died on a beautiful blue sunny day.  You died on Sunday, September 4, 2016. I hope and pray you get to fly like the birds you loved so much.  I have faith, hope and love and believe God willing, there will be a time when we will see each other again.

You are and will always be my dear brother.  I wish I could have done more for you during your time of need.  I believe in God and with this, I believe you no longer suffer.  You no longer feel loneliness or despair.  You no longer feel pain.  You are at peace with our God.  We all will miss you and we will treasure our memories of you together as a family.  Our family has suffered a tremendous loss in which we will never recover.  There were six of us, and now there are five. You will always be in my heart.  Love Nena.

Raul, it's hard to believe you are no longer with us. I'll always remember the shock we felt when the police officer told us of your passing and how painful it was to hear, our world had just fallen apart, our hearts shattered. All I wanted to do was see you and hug you, we had to wait a whole week later for that...all I have left are memories. Being your youngest sister I would always try to tag along with you. You use to take me to the pool at the police station.  You use to let me hang around when you were with your buddies. You were always very protective and I always felt safe around you. As an adult you were always there for me. I was proud that you asked me and Arthur to be the godparents of both your daughters. I will not let you down. I will always be there for them as you were for me. Losing you was hard, watching my mother grieve is hard. But im hoping and praying that my father and mother stay strong. You will always be in my heart and in my prayers. I know one day I too will pass, but the one thing I will look forward to the most besides being with God himself is being with you again. I will always love you my dearest loving brother. May you rest in eternal peace in gods grace and no longer feel the sadness and emotional pain that you felt before your passing. Jesse, Ma and your entire family will miss you soo very much. Love you always Raul.

Raul, he was and still is my father-in-law. I met him through his youngest son, Emilio. My first impression of him was "Hmm, you are just like your father, Emilio - man of few words, serious and facially intimidating." 

As I later know him more, he was more than a person of few words. He has a gentle heart. I knew, Emilio's and his kids' love for animals originated from him. It takes a loving heart to have such compassion towards animals - not just your usual pet. Any helpless animals. 

For the last few years, he has become more involved with his Son, Emilio. And I eventually came to know how he really was behind that intimidating face - he would often ask about Emilio and I. My family, always asking about how we're doing. He would always nag at Emilio about working too much  "Don't work too much, you gotta be there for Kollyn, too. Right Kollyn? You want him with you?" he would often say. To that I would joke, "yes yes!" He would always tell us to "visit more often" and "not be a stranger". Always so generous, providing things for us without even asking.

I would never forget the time, when I didn't know him much yet and only knew him as a very serious person: I was at the Christmas party at Tia Elizabeth's house and there I met her then baby girl Ariana; I held this baby close and at the time he saw me as he passed by and said, smiling, "Don't get any ideas, Kollyn." At the time, it was really funny.  But that's one of those times I remember that this man is not intimidating at all.

Raul, may you Rest in Peace. I heard how glad you are for your son and I - though I wasn't there to hear it, know how happy this made me. I will make sure that will continue to be the case. Thank you so much for looking out for us. Please continue to do so up above.

I've known him for as long as I've been with Amaris, but not well enough. He always gave me fatherly advice throughout the years, things I should do to make our lives better. I regret that I didn't know him more on a deeper level, but I am glad to be part of the a handful of moments that I've seen him happy. On that end, I'll always feel like there's unfinished business with my father-in-law, but I find solace in knowing that he was a selfless man especially for his family, and I don't think he'd want us to regret anything on his behalf. I know you'll watch over your grandson, Papa Raul.

Pa, I miss you so much. I can't believe you are gone. I want to share a memory between my dad and I.

When I was around 2-3 years old, we took a family trip to Disney World. At some point, my mom went somewhere and only took my brother (Raul Jr.) along. I started to get bratty because I felt left behind, and began whining in my dad's arms. He then started 'crying' (pretending) because I didn't want to be with him. Instantly, I stopped my whining and said to him "Don't cry Papa. Papa, don't cry" while placing my hand on his cheek. 

Pa, I'm so sorry I didn't hear your crying heart this time around. I'm sorry I couldn't console you. I can only hope that your crying and suffering is now over. I love you always.

I am happy to have the Salinas family as part of my own now, but very saddened that Raul passed so suddenly and so soon.  Seeing photos from Ami and Brian's wedding and baby shower, he looked so very happy.  May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to all.

Raul, you'll be sorely missed by everyone whose life you touched. The Aviation Police Department Family has lost a cherished member. May God grant you eternal rest and welcome you home. May we all learn to appreciate evry moment we're blessed with on this earth.

I started to feel left behind and became a bit bratty wanting to go with my mom. My dad started 'crying' (pretend crying) because I didn't want to be with him, and I instantly stopped whining and said to him "Papa, don't cry. Don't cry,  Papa" while rubbing his cheek.

Pa, I  am so sorry I didn't hear or see your crying heart. I'll never stop wishing I was able to console you this time around. The only thing I can hope for is that your crying and suffering has now stopped. I love you always and forever.
