

Richard J. Matejovsky, a beloved and devoted resident of Cicero, Illinois, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 93. Richard was born on April 16, 1932. Known for his kindness, hard work, and unwavering willingness to help others, Richard leaves behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Richard attended Gage Park High School in Chicago, Illinois where he began his military affiliation as a member of the ROTC. Following his education, he served in the Army, where he demonstrated his dedication and commitment and made many lasting friendships. After his military service, Richard continued to be involved with the American Legion Post, reflecting his ongoing devotion to his country and fellow veterans.
Richard's life was enriched by his marriage to Victoria (nee Secco), who preceded him in death. They shared nearly 30 years of marriage, filled with love and travel. Richard was a beloved son to Michael and Lottie (nee Petters) and sibling to the late Karl (the late Beverly), the late Donald (Josie), and the late Joan. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, who will carry on his memory.
We invite you to join us in honoring Richard's life during the visitation on January 30, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, located at 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402. Additionally, family and friends can gather again at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Mount Auburn Funeral Home for an 11:00 am Chapel Service. Following the service, Richard will be laid to rest at Mount Auburn Memorial Park, with Army Military Honors.
