Born to Emilio and Virginia Escobedo, Stella was shaped from her earliest days by a home rooted in love, attentiveness, and heritage. That foundation became a defining part of who she was—thoughtful, generous, and unwavering in her care for those around her.
Stella dedicated more than ten years of service to her last workplace, earning a Certificate of Achievement that reflected the same dependable spirit and considerate presence she brought to her relationships. Her generosity was never reserved for special moments; it lived in her daily willingness to help, to give, and to show up with compassion.
Family was the center of Stella’s life. She was the loving mother of Fernando Reza. She is also survived by her siblings: Jesus (Marcia) Escobedo, Rebecca Nunez, Emilio (Susan) Escobedo, Lourdes (Joe) Mitre, Luis (Francis) Escobedo, and Enrique (Tracy) Escobedo.
Her nieces and nephews—Veronica Gorson, Alejandro Escobedo, Monica Stanley, German Nunez, Lorelei Escobedo, Emilio Escobedo, Lizette Escobedo, Adabel Mitre, Jovany Mitre, Virginia Rodriguez, Jesus Escobedo, Natalie Escobedo, Gabrielle Escobedo, and Julian Escobedo—were a source of joy and pride.
In her personal life, Stella found comfort in the simple pleasures that made her home warm and welcoming. She enjoyed caring for plants, shopping, cooking, sewing, and going to restaurants—everyday moments that reflected her nurturing spirit and her appreciation for time shared with others.
Stella’s faith was a constant source of strength. She kept prayer cards of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, St. Michael, and other Saints, reminders of a devotion that was sincere, steady, and lived out through her compassion, generosity, and respect for the dignity of others.
She will be remembered with deep gratitude and respect for a life marked by thoughtfulness, kindness, and enduring love.
A funeral service for Stella will be held at Queen of All Nations Catholic Church, (4940 Washington St, Hillside, IL 60162) at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 4th, 2026. A committal service will take place following the funeral at Mount Auburn Cemetery (4101 S. Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402.)
