Barry William Phillips, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, just one week shy of his 70th birthday. Born on May 9, 1955, Barry was the beloved son of Fred “Ham” Phillips and Doris Ann Phillips, who preceded him in death.
Barry had a deep love for animals—often described as an animal whisperer—and held a special affection for horses. He was a natural athlete who enjoyed playing and watching sports, and especially took pride in coaching his daughters in fast-pitch softball. He was also a fierce competitor when it came to ping pong, arm wrestling, or a good game of spades. Whether fishing on a quiet morning, reading an old western novel, cracking jokes at the ballpark, or helping his daughters perfect their baton twirls for majorette practice, Barry made the most of the simple joys in life.
He had a stubborn streak, a quick wit, and an unmatched confidence in being right—even when he wasn’t. He was the life of the party, a lover of freeze pops and Sprite, a fan of action and sci-fi movies, and a gamer who could hold his own with a controller in hand. Barry was someone who could seemingly master anything he put his mind to.
Above all, Barry was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Harbin Phillips, and his three daughters, Krista Phillips Contreras, Whitney Phillips Oliver, and Kayla Phillips, who will forever carry his humor, wisdom, and love in their hearts.
Barry’s memory will live on in the countless stories, laughs, and lessons he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
