On March 2, 2020, Charles Babb was taken from his family in a fatal car accident. He was hit by a street racer on Moreland Avenue.
Charles, belovedly known by his family and friends as Papa, was the patriarch and backbone of his family. He had an infectious laugh that brought smiles to everyone around him. Papa always had a funny story to tell to anyone that would listen. He was very proud of his daughter's animal rescue, Fighting for Dawn Rescue and Senior Sanctuary, and bragged regularly.
Papa is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan; his daughter, Denise and her husband David; grandchildren, Elizabeth Stubbs and her fiancé, A.J. Evans, Hannah Stubbs and Charlie Stubbs. Papa had three great-granddaughters that were his pride and joy, Emmy, GradieMae, and Elliot. The family will greatly miss his strength, his silliness, and his big bear hugs.
Papa had been his wife's rock for the last 2 years while she battled ovarian cancer. He attended every appointment, cared for her during pain and sickness and held her while she cried. He would wake before her every morning to make her coffee and be ready when she woke up. His support will be a loss that will be very difficult to manage without.
A service is not planned at this time. A small, immediate family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fighting for Dawn Rescue and Senior Sanctuary or your favorite charity. Information on Fighting for Dawn can be found at www.facebook.com/fightingfordawn.
