David was born on November 2, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Evelyn and Weldon E. Lanier, Sr.
He retired from his life of service as a Firefighter/EMS Coordinator with the East Point Fire Dept. David was blessed with a large family, four children, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many others whom he loved deeply. He loved spending much of his time outdoors, whether that be hunting, fishing, wood working or working in his yard with his flowers or vegetable garden. He always had a story to tell to whomever would listen and you never knew if he was telling the truth or setting you up for some grand joke. He will truly be missed by us all.
We will join together to celebrate his life with a graveside service at Fairview Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11:00am. Flowers can be sent to and his arrangements are being overseen by Horis A. Ward | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, GA. 30281 (770) 474-1231.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.horisawardfairviewchapel.com for the Lanier family.
A fireman knocked at the heavenly gate
His face was scarred and old.
He stood before the man of fate,
For admission to the fold.
"What have you done," St. Peter said,
"To gain admission here?"
"I've been a firefighter, sir," he said
"For many, many years."
The Pearly Gates swung open wide,
as Saint Peter touched the bell.
"Come in and choose your harp, my son.
You've seen your share of hell."
