Geraldine Shelton

Geraldine Shelton, as known as Gerry and Grandma, the child of William Isaac Johnson, Jr., and Estelle Barrett Johnson was born June 3, 1921 in Richmond, Virginia. The eldest daughter, she has a remaining sister, Gerry departed this life Wednesday, May 14, 2014.

She was educated in the Richmond School system attending Armstrong High school. She married her first husband and started her family. Later, she relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut with her second husband and continued growing her tribe.

She made a lasting impression with everyone she met, and was given the nickname Grandma Shelton by most. She had a contagious laugh that will be remembered, along with a spunky personality and a strict manner. She was the personal babysitter for most, if not all, of her family.

She is survived by her children, Geraldine Donnell, Stanley Bailey Jr., James Shelton Jr., Louise Austin, Deborah Shelton, Keith Shelton, Reginald Shelton, and Tonya Shelton; grandchildren, Walden Anderson, Kimberly Anderson, Bill Donnell, Melissa Donnell, Raye Ruff, Robin Ruff, James Shelton III, Florence Shelton, Akisha Shelton, Lashonda Schovanec, Lamore Barnes, Vincent Austin Jr., Vernon Austin Sr., Simone McCray, Takiyah Shelton, Rashad Shelton, Darryl Shelton, Jakeith Shelton, Hasad Shelton, Reginald Shelton II, Riyadh Shelton, Zohnarius Shelton, King Jones, Kody Jones, and Robert Jones; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; sister, Florence J. Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is now vacationing in heaven with her children; Blance Anderson, Helen Ruff, and Robert Shelton; grandchildren, Thomas Anderson and Jackie Anderson, and a circle of other relatives and friends.
