Helen was born on January 26, 1928, in Mount Airy, NC. She graduated from Stone Mountain High School in 1946. Sears, Roebuck & Co. employed her for 27 years in their Mail Order Department on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, GA. She took an early retirement when that facility closed. Helen lived on Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur for many years and she attended Parkwood Hills Baptist Church before moving to Stockbridge, GA in 1988. She was an active member of Highview Baptist Church until 1997 when she moved her membership to Eastside Baptist Church where she attended regularly until ill health kept her at home. She relocated to Cleveland, GA in October 2016.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loving her children and grandchildren more than anything here on this earth.
Her parents; Julius and Lena Blackmon Williams, and all of her five brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons; J. Thomas “Tommy” (Miriam) Witcher, of Cleveland, GA, and Clarence Anthony “Tony” Witcher, of Columbia, SC; her daughter; Deborah (Dale) Witcher- Hensley, of Dallas, GA; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 1 PM to 2 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home located at 376 Fairview Rd in Stockbridge, GA. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Dr. Alan Smith will officiate. Interment will take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
