Wayne was a shy but incredibly caring and generous person. He was a devoted sports fan who loved the Braves—even having his picture taken with Bobby Cox—as well as the Georgia Bulldogs and the Falcons. He also followed NASCAR closely, a passion rooted in his family history with early Daytona racing on the beach.
Wayne’s deep commitment to family was evident in how he cared for both his father and mother at home until their passing. This is why I promised to do the same for him. He was always there for friends and family in a jam and was known for his generosity. At our church, he served as a greeter for several years, where he loved welcoming people and helping families with their children. We also enjoyed many years together in our senior Sunday School class.
His family history in the area was important to him; his late cousin, Bobby Sikes, served as the mayor of Lawrenceville, and Bobby’s son painted the murals in the new Lawrenceville City Hall.
Thank you for helping us honor his memory.
