

James "David" Cunard, 68, of Jonesboro, died Friday, April 8, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Henry, Sr., and Ruby Layson Cunard, and his brother Sammy. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lynda Jacka Cunard, and son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Beth Cunard; and his grandchildren Jesse James., Lilly and Johnathan. Sisters and brothers, Linda and Larry Parker, Patricia Haliburton, Faye Leonard, Sally and Gary Hornsby, Johnny Cunard and Doug and Jennifer Cunard; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bonnie and Mike Esterman, along with many nieces and nephews.
David was a member of Grant Park Christian Church, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965. He graduated from Georgia State University and taught in the Atlanta Public Schools for a short while. David served in the U. S. Army several years. He was discharged as a Captain, and received many service awards, including the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam.
David retired from Delta Air Lines, after many years of service as a “Red Coat" Customer Service Agent. He was a long time member of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge # 37, and also a member of the VFW.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was highly respected by his family and friends for his intelligence, humor and sincere concern for others. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs Fan. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial service honoring David's life will be held at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Ga. 30281 on Saturday, April 16, at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm and continuing after the service. Those wishing may sign the on line guest book at www.horisawardfairviewchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
