James served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in World War II. After an honorable discharge from the armed forces, he went on to establish a floor covering business which he ran from 1946 until his retirement in 1989 after 43 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Monwella (Sally) Wages. He is survived by six children, Sandra Redmond (George) of Hattiesburg, MS, James "Ron" Wages (Jeannie) of Oxford, GA, Timothy "Ed" Wages (Gay) of Ellenwood, GA, John Wages (Dana) of Conyers, GA, Mark Wages of Newnan, GA, and Alisa Rogers (Allen) of Griffin, GA; as well as nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for James on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Following the visitation will be a graveside celebration of life and committal service at 11:00 AM at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
