

John was born and raised in Lithonia, Georgia to the late Frances and John Henry Dobbs, Jr. on April 29, 1951. As a young child, he often worked alongside his father and learned very much in doing so. He went to work for Colonial Bread Company and eventually established a business of his own. John’s work as a brick mason was highly regarded in the field of construction through his company, D and D Masonry. John was married at as a young man and by this union his first daughter, Tina, was born. He then had a son, John Jr., who passed away as an infant child. Through other unions, he was blessed with five additional children, whom he loved and adored just as well. John was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by son, John Allen Dobbs, Jr. and stepson, Mike Collins, as well as one brother, Ricky Dobbs. He is survived by a loving and dedicated wife, Mrs. Janice C. Dobbs of Newborn, GA; five children, Tina Dover, Charlotte Johnson, Bryan McGiboney, Amanda McGiboney, and Diana Jackson; two aunts, Joan Dobbs and Eris Dobbs; three siblings, Nancy Aycock, Phillip Dobbs, and Chalmers Dobbs; mother-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Weaver; three siblings-in-law, Robin, Sheri, and Bob; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation of family and friends for John will be held Friday, September 24, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of life will occur at 1:00 PM in Ward's Chapel. A graveside committal service will immediately follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
