Marvin Curtis Marlow

Marvin Curtis Marlow, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. He was born on September 12, 1936, in Bowdon, Georgia, to the late Henry Lee Marlow and Lois Beck Marlow. In his later years, he made his home in Conyers, Georgia.

Marvin was a proud and dedicated member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). He worked many years at the Lakewood Assembly Plant in Atlanta and took great pride in his work and his union brothers. When the plant closed its doors, Marvin held the distinction of being the last man to walk out, a moment that symbolized both the end of an era and the loyalty he carried throughout his working life.

Outside of work, Marvin had a deep love for baseball. He spent many seasons coaching Little League, where he was known for his patience, encouragement, and ability to bring out the best in the young players he mentored. He was also a lifelong and devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, rarely missing a chance to watch his team play.

For the last four years of his life, Marvin lived with his son, a time both cherished and memorable. During those years he liked to joke that he was “teaching his son how to retire.” Marvin often said he had been retired longer than he had worked, and that was just the way it ought to be.

Marvin will be remembered for his humor, wisdom, strong work ethic, and the love he had for his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Stephen C. Marlow; his stepsons, Steve Ruhl and Donnie Ruhl; and his grandsons, Brandon J. Marlow, Jay L. Marlow, and Joseph R. Marlow.

Marvin’s legacy of dedication, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A Committal Service will take place on March 11, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:15 pm at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
