Mary, the daughter of Ed and Bessie Turner, both deceased, was born April 18, 1938 in Rockdale County. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie George; her four sisters: Faye Ramsey, Dorothy Plunkett, Gladys George, and Edna Mills; her four brothers: Guy Turner, Sr., Ray Turner, Harold Turner, and Ralph Turner; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was an Air Force wife for 30 years and travelled around the world with her husband. After his retirement from the Air Force, she worked for Equifax. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to those that knew her and she never met a stranger. She was a member of the Rockdale Baptist Church.
Emmett’s love and care for his wife was her lifeline for the past 16 years after she suffered a severe stroke in 1999. This gave her a prolonged and happy life. Her family is forever grateful for his devotion.
Mary is survived by her husband of 58 years, Virgle Emmett George; her son Eddie (Michell) George; her four grandchildren: Casey (Chris) Ubriaco, Michael George, Ryne Zahirniak, and Jaime Zahirniak; her two great grandchildren Aden and Kirsten; her four sisters Lavern Leopard, Sara Ann Conner, Shirley (Doyle) Gattis, and Gloria (Winston) Owens; brother-in-law Jimmy Dickerson; friend Susan Page; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 11th from 6pm to 8pm at the Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in Stockbridge, GA.
Funeral services will take place Friday, June 12th at 11am at the chapel. Family will be welcoming guests and visitors one hour before the service.
