

Miles Traylor was born on March 9, 1955, in Centerville, Alabama, to Adele and Walter Traylor Sr. From an early age, Miles was known for his tenacity, energy, and drive. An active young man, he excelled in sports and constantly pursued opportunities to build a better life for himself, his family, and the people around him. His strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility would become the hallmarks of his life.
Miles graduated from West End High School in Birmingham, AL where he formed lasting friendships and began shaping the values that would guide him throughout his journey. He continued his education at United Electronics Institute, earning an Associate’s Degree. In 1976, Miles made a pivotal move from Birmingham to Atlanta, a decision that opened the door to new possibilities and adventures.
He began his professional career at Northern Telecom (Nortel) where his dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence propelled him through the ranks. Over nearly 20 years with the company, Miles built a strong reputation and eventually rose to the level of senior leader, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and achievement. He took what he learned from working for others to start his own journey to entrepreneurship!
He and his friend Dale started their firewood business, then he was a car sales broker, and later started a carwash and even pursued multi-level marketing. In 1994, Miles and his younger brother in-law Stanley, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey together, launching T&G Home Improvement, which would later become Hawk Construction. As new businessmen, they faced challenges with perseverance and vision, building not only successful companies but also stories of triumph and brotherhood that continue to inspire. With time, Miles went on to establish Hawk Construction Company LLC, expanding his focus to general contracting and serving government agencies, faith-based organizations, and private clients. His work included projects for DeKalb, Fulton and Henry Counties, City of Atlanta, Amazon, Meals on Wheels Atlanta, Johnson Controls, and several churches across the region. His leadership, giving spirit, and unwavering commitment to quality helped shape a company that reflects his character and values.
Miles was not only a devoted professional but also a loving family man, which always came first. He is survived by his devoted and committed wife, Georgia Traylor; two daughters, Tené Traylor and Cicely (Alton) Burns; and two grandchildren, KeRon Cofield Jr. and Amari Burns, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
He is also survived by his siblings: Walter Traylor Jr., Emma (LC) Robinson, Clinnie Brown, and Ernestine (Jerome Sr.) Lee; along with a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Miles lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service. His presence was a source of strength, his guidance a source of wisdom, and his love a constant gift to all who knew him. His legacy will continue through the many lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the work he built with integrity and purpose.
Miles will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in every story, every memory, and every life shaped by his remarkable journey.
