He was born on June 16th, 1943, to Roy Dixon and Jean Holland Dixon in Plant City Florida. Where he grew up working the family farm. After graduating from West Palm Beach High School, he attended Tennessee Temple University where he met the love of his life. They were married June 27th, 1971, and had two children, Tonya Dixon of Panama City Beach, FL and Joel Dixon of Canton, GA. Richard spent his career in manufacturing, retiring from General Motors after 25 years of service.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a spiritual man and shared his love of Christ with those around him. He was an avid fisherman throughout his life and loved the thrill of landing the “Big One”. Oh, how he loved to tell stories and he had a knack for finding a story for every occasion. He also enjoyed singing and play the guitar and he would play for anyone he could convince to listen. He also had a passion for sports and followed almost every sport you can imagine. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is survived by wife, daughter, son, three grandchildren (Isabelle, Maddison, and Caleb), and his two sisters (Dawn Joiner of Alachua, FL and Robin Enteman of Lynn Haven, FL). He was preceded in death by his parents.
