Ruben Martinez

Ruben was born Nov. 12, 1939 in LaPaloma, TX to the late Felix Martinez and Victoria Rodriguez. Upon graduating from Los Fresno High School, he joined the United States Army where he became a certified airplane mechanic. In 1963, Ruben married Linda Rowan. To their union, two daughters were born, Vicky and Cathy. They also welcomed one son, Jeffery Martinez, who passed away shortly after birth.

Ruben went on to continue his education in avionics at Atlanta Area Technical College. He began his career in aviation with Lockheed Corporation and worked there for approximately ten years. He then began working for Delta Airlines until his retirement in 2000, after 27 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he spent his time with family, friends and grandchildren. Ruben was a member of Rex Lodge #251 in Rex, GA for 50 years. He loved spending time in the lodge and enjoyed the many friendships that were made over the years. Ruben was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Felix Martinez and Victoria Rodriguez, Ruben was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Martinez. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Linda Martinez of Morrow, GA; two daughters, Vicky Myers (Troy) of Ellijay, GA and Cathy Treadway (Ed) of Locust Grove, GA; eight grandchildren, Corey Myers (Michelle) of Toccoa, GA, Ashlee Tucker (Ewin) of Gallatin, TN, Jesse English (Briana) of Morrow, GA, Alex English (Amber) of Piedmont, SC, Eddy Treadway of Ellenwood, GA, Randy Treadway of Pikeville, NC, Jessica Treadway of Locust Grove, GA, and Nikki Banks of Manchester, GA; and eight great-grandchildren, Lily Myers, Madelynn Myers, James Myers, Benjamin English, Savannah Jones, Hunter Jones, Aiden Badillo and Tyson Collins.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation being held on Friday, April 2, 2021 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home – Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281. A celebration of Ruben’s life will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in the chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home at 2:00PM, immediately followed by a graveside committal service in Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
