I knew Tim when we were all just kids it seems like yesterday. I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to his family. I know he will surly be missed. It has been many years and I have just found out about his passing.

I first met Tim at Denver Air Route Control Center when he was the FAA lead preparing the facility for the ERAM project.  Tim had a great smile and an enthusiasm about him that made you feel the project was in good hands.

I continued to work with Tim when I went to Washington, DC in early 2010.  We both worked on the ERAM project together.  Tim always provided me with the expertise I needed to do a better job.  He had that way about him to make others a better person, both professionally and personally.

During our travels with ERAM I had the opportunity to enjoy social time with Tim.  Over dinner we had conversations about our lives and families.  Recently he was very excited about getting to spend time at the beach house he had just purchased. 

Two interesting things I learned about Tim from our travels.  

He was the only guy I knew that could convince a major car rental company that he was a CEO of a large corporation.  When Tim got to the airport after his flight he would call a special phone number.  Very quickly there would be a driver to pick him up and load his luggage in the trunk for him.  When he got to his car it would always be a nice Cadillac luxury car.  As I was squeezing into my sub compact rental car I used to think, this guy knows how to travel.   

The other thing I will always remember about Tim is he knew every Chinese buffet in a five mile radius.  When the ERAM Team was in a new location and needed to find a place for lunch we would ask Tim.  Invertible we would end up at some great buffet that Tim had already scouted out.   

My sincere condolences to his family.  May you know he will also be sorely missed by this FAA family as well.

Tim had the rarest gift to make one feel unique and special and was truly interested in others and made their lives better by knowing him. Tim sat behind me in SWD band, I played clarinet and he played trombone and sat near Ed Carstarphen and Chuck Gerlach and I remember thinking how much fun they had. His funny, warm, generous spirit will be missed by all who loved him. He made lifelong friends everywhere he went and will be deeply missed by all those lucky enough to have had him in their lives. Thanks so much to the family member who placed the photo album on this site, giving us another moment with Tim.  My deepest sympathy to his Dad, family and friends. Hancock Family,We are so very saddened by the loss of Tim. We never met him, but we love Kathy and feel we know him through her. My sister Patti has thought him so very nice with a great personality. I met Tim as a fellow Air Traffic Controller in training at Atlanta Center in the early 1980's. It was always a pleasure to have his positive attitude and humor as part of my work and personal life. Tim was an adopted uncle to my kids and a trusted family friend to my wife and myself.

The friendship lasted many years and many miles of separation. Every time I communicated with Tim I was rewarded with being considered a friend for ever.

Thank you Tim! I will see you again!

Tim - you will certainly be missed - I always enjoyed being around you "back in the day" at SWD. I guess your Mom was getting lonely and needed someone to be with her.

We were SO looking forward to having him as our next-door neighbor, and had grown very fond of him and his happy, energetic, kind and spirited personality in the short time we had with him.  Saint Simons Island will miss Tim Hancock!  What a wonderful man, and a great loss to this community and to our neighborhood..

Stories and memories I wrote to my cousin but never got to send.  10-8-2012

Tim, there is not one memory of you in my mind where you were not smiling and just a complete pleasure to be around.  I always learn something when ever around you, and you make me laugh too.  
Food and laughs are a big part of those memories.  You were probably the one that took that famous picture of Gene in that denim cowboy hat – and I can not remember whose hat that was.  Precious pictures - and Auntie and Gene had such a good time with it too.  I never knew egg nog had a “kick” to it until sharing some with your family.  I remember you as a teenager towering over us, you were not much older but all of your family made us look short and I have the pictures to prove it.  
I remember playing basketball in the driveway and skateboarding.  Well – I am sure I only watched you, Kevin and Leland.  
I recall the family Christmas parties your Mom and Dad would have and later on you would have at your house – and I wish I could have attended more of them.  
You were always the first one to have the newest technology – I think I remember the “projection TV and surround sound” that we really were impressed with.
I always thought you had the greatest idea of buying your parents and siblings the same “cool new gadget gift” for Christmas (I think one year it was a coffee maker with timer another year a special phone).  I remember that every year as I go shopping - and have done the “same gift for all” some years.
I remember you took my camera and made pictures at my wedding in 1984 – I am pretty sure I called you “Kevin” that day – but you just smiled and went on cause you knew on that day I did well to call you by a “family” name - though not the right one - with the wedding day nerves I had.
I have lots of pictures of you and your siblings and I really wish we could have gotten together more often and gotten to know each other better over the years.  But we let our busy lives and the miles get in the way.  E-mail and face book hit us too late to recover those lost years.  Kathy, Karen and Tanya and I try to stay in touch by e-mail – but it is still hard to keep up with so much going on.   The girls and I are determined to have a “gal cousin's weekend get-a-way” some time.  We have been trying to plan one for over a year.  We manage to keep in touch but can never really have the time to get “caught up” on all the news.   Momma Sadie and Aunt Pat were so good at keeping us up with everyone and I really miss that connection.  
I found the yearly family Christmas cards your mom and dad sent to us each year – no doubt it was always a family tradition and fun to look back on.  It has always stood out in my mind that you and your siblings set a really good example of a “close and loving family”.
I have the pictures you made of Sadie and Raymond on their birthday #75 and 77 I think.  Truly priceless moments you captured, and the last good pictures of Sadie interacting with family.   I know Uncle Raymond misses her as much as we do.  Sadie was so happy that day and really worked at remembering and talking with each and everyone of you that attended that gathering.  Your family was so good at “bringing the party to us” when we could not make it over your way.   I have lots of pictures of Sadie, Raymond and Auntie – I think they used to party a lot without us! :) 
I was so impressed with the wonderful job you and the others did with your Dad's 80th birthday and the DVD.  I was especially touched by the song “Halleluiah” and it is one of my favorite songs and it just stops me in my tracks anytime I hear it.
Thanks for all the family pictures you shared with us over the years.  I have spent hours going through old pictures lately and forwarding them on to family members.  I have a group of photos to share with you and I am sure I will find more.

That early school photo of Tim shows all his handsome charm and only a trace of his jolly impishness - all of which he retained through life. My Hancock cousins are all extra little brothers and sisters to me - I'm accustomed to missing you all, and now miss Tim from a special place in my hear. You will carry on, young man, in our memories and beyond

I made several ERAM trips with Tim.  I remember him as a very kind man that always had a smile on his face.  He liked to have a good time and always included everone around him in his good times.    He will be very missed.

We pray for Tim's family during these very hard times.

I will always remember and hold fond memories of the way Tim as a 'customer' and fellow worker looked after those he worked and socialized with.  From the Miami Hilton during CPDLC early days to his high rise Arlington condo, hositality and happiness was key.  Meeting Tim with my twins and his nephew at his place in Arlington for dinner and the way all were age appropriately accomodated, juice boxes and cold beer on this occassion.  What a guy!
