

Albert Holguin Galaviz (Pop), was born in El Paso, Texas. He was the youngest son to Manuel and Concepcion Galaviz and brother to Margarita Herrera, Raul Galaviz and Esther Lomeli. He will be laid to rest along side Cora (Socie) Galaviz, his beloved and devoted wife of 57 years. Born in The Roaring Twenties, survived The Great Depression and joined the U.S. Army just prior to the Victory over Japan, (V-J Day) in 1945. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1947. He then joined the Teamsters, (Local 439) and was a proud member for over 36 years. During that time he met our beautiful mother, courted her and was married June 1950. As loving parents to Albert Jr. (deceased at 59), and survived by their daughter Erlinda and son Ruben. He himself was only 7 years of age when he lost his father and despite all the adversity, he managed to do his very best providing for and raising his family. He was a proud grandfather of 19 and survived by 8 grandchildren: Albert III & Christian Galaviz, Jessica Enos, Christine Galaviz, Jesus Guillen, Danielle Galaviz, Sean Galaviz (deceased at 2yrs.) and Eric Guillen (deceased at 24yrs.); 7 great-grandchildren: Crystal Blevins, Miranda & David Enos, Izaiah & Emilia Orozco, Zahira & Zayden Guillen and 4 great-great-grandchildren: Zephaniah, Soleman, Cora Blevins and Moses (deceased at birth). Growing up during the Big Band Era, Pop loved dancing the Jitterbug to Swing music. An accomplished Truck Driver with a flawless driving record, known for his neat uniform and shiny shoes. He also had a knack for telling jokes and loved making everyone laugh. Pop’s was a father figure to many, a loving and caring husband, a great dad, a proud grandfather, a friend and mentor. He will forever be in our thoughts and prayers and sorely missed. Proverbs John 3:16 and 14:2.
