Ana Martin was born on May 30, 1930 in Zacatecas Mexico to Domitila Caldera and Daniel Murillo. She is the second eldest of eighteen siblings and came to the United States at the age of 14 in pursuit of the American Dream. She lived in Corona and then moved to Woodland where she worked in the Yolo County hospital. In 1948 she met the love of her life, Filbert Martin. They started their life in Woodland and welcomed their first child Nadine and 15 months later their second child Nancy. She and her family later moved to Stockton where she worked for Centro Mart, and Tri Valley in the cannery and would retire from them 25 years later. She was a mother of two daughters and the grandmother of five granddaughters; Dena Kimmel, Julie Nesbit, Lisa Muniz, Ann Marie Ramos and Aimee Ramos. Not only was she a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, friend, wife and mother, but she was also an amazing and dedicated grandmother and great grandmother to her eight great grandchildren. There was never a birthday that she forgot, a milestone that she was not present for, or a day that she wasn’t available at the drop of a dime for any of her family. Throughout her entire life, Ana always dedicated herself to others and always offered her home and anything she had to her family and friends. For her, giving was a better feeling than receiving and she gave selflessly to those that she loved, and demonstrated love through her actions. One of the things she loved most was to cook. People would often ask what ingredients she used, but she would say it was because whatever she made was made with love. Her love of cooking led her to open a restaurant in Stockton; Cocina Murillo. She always believed that giving should come from the heart, and what better way to give than to nourish others As if having a beautiful soul was not enough, she was also a beautiful person. She had flawless skin, and impeccable taste that was always glamourous and sophisticated. Elegant, classy, and immaculate are words that others use to describe her. She always dressed in beautiful and tailored clothing, with hairstyles and clothing current to the season’s trends. Style is never something that she lacked and it was expressed in every facet of her life. From her style of dress, to her home décor, amazing food, and impeccable manicured garden, she poured love, class, style, grace and elegance into everything she did. On November 30 she passed away at the age of 85. She lived a life of exemplary morals and values that she instilled in her family, and was the epitome of what a woman was. In her 85 years of life she made lasting impressions on all those that have known her. She traveled with friends and family and experienced great adventures. To have had the pleasure of knowing her was to know a woman who was deep seeded in her Catholic faith, a woman with a strong work ethic, selflessness, morals, values, femininity, elegance and glamour. The moment she left this earth, so too did a piece of hearts. Her absence has left a void that no words can ever explain, but we will relish in the wonderful memories she has gifted us all of her life.
