Billie Catherine “Kate” Bohot of Stockton peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2016 at the age of 88. Born March 16, 1927 in Ringgold, Texas to Asa and Maude Sewell, Kate was the sixth of their seven children. She grew up on the family farm during the Great Depression where she learned the arts of gardening, cooking and canning, sewing, crocheting and quilting. As WWII raged around the world, Kate graduated from Ringgold High School at the young age of 16. She worked as a telephone operator until April 13, 1945 when she married Gus Bohot in Waurika, Oklahoma shortly before he was shipped off to the Pacific corridor. Their marriage lasted until Gus’ death just one month shy of their 60th anniversary. Kate was always happiest with a baby in her arms; consequently, she bore and lovingly raised six children. She also spent a lifetime teaching children in Sunday School about Jesus. Kate loved the Lord and reading her Bible. She sacrificially served as a Pastor’s wife for many years. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and cooking. Prize-winning flowers were a result of her green thumb. Her home-baked rolls were legendary. Kate lived in Stockton for 16 years. She was a member at Quail Lakes Baptist Church. Kate was preceded in death by her husband Gus and her only son, Mark. She is survived by daughters Janis (Rick) Jeffries of Seattle WA, Ann (Shelvie) Crittendon of Brawley CA, Patty (Jim) Henderson of Oceanside CA, Jean (Cary) Nutter of Puyallup WA, and Mary Nevis of Stockton. Also surviving her are 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. In lieu of flowers please contribute in her memory to Quail Lakes Baptist Church, 1904 Quail Lakes Drive, Stockton CA 95207.
