Dan was born in Stockton, CA on October 5, 1944. He graduated from Edison High School, Class of 1962, where he found his love for music. He enlisted and served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp (1962-1966) as part of the Drum and Bugle Corp, stationed at Mare Island in Vallejo, CA. After moving to Stockton, he worked at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass in Lathrop for more than 30 years as a production scheduler. He had many passions in life. He always seemed to have a camera around his neck and captured so many wonderful memories, which we will always treasure. He also loved his sports. We all know him as a devoted Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Dodgers fan, but more than anything, he enjoyed being a little league baseball coach and manager. He spent many years coaching and mentoring countless players, including both of his sons. He could be found most weekends in early spring at Pioneer Little League tending to the fields, and preparing the diamonds for the upcoming season. He also served several years as the Band Booster President at Lincoln High School. His many hobbies included playing golf with both family and friends, as well as co-ed volleyball, co-ed softball and bowling with his co-workers. Dan found great purpose and joy helping the community through his many hours of ministry work at the First Baptist Church of Stockton. His greatest passion in recent years was his garden. Whether it was cactus, tomatoes, zucchini, artichokes, broccoli, bok choy, snow peas, onions or garlic, he always seemed to reap a tremendous bounty that was always shared with his friends, family, and neighbors. It was his way of showing appreciation for you being an important part of his life.
Dan is survived by his wife Violet, whom he was married to for almost 42 years; his three children Brian, Robyn, and Roger; daughter-in-law Bobbie; and five grandchildren Audrey, Lucas, Cameron, Bradley, and Andrew. Not only did he love his family, he loved his extended family that includes his Marine brothers and their families, his neighbors, classmates, co-workers, his church family, and the many friends that he has come to know and love.
We love you Dad and will miss you so very much!
