She was born in Manteca, California on March 29, 1928, and graduated from Manteca High School in 1946. She worked for Sharpe Army Depot until becoming a wife and mother. She married Ernie, to whom she was devotedly married to (twice) for over 31 years. They had two daughters, Kathy (Bob) Rowlands and Karen (Sam) King. She retired from Montgomery Wards in 1998 after 30 years. Afterwards, she focused on caring for her home and loving her family of grandchildren Brian (Ann) Rowlands, Erin (Drew) Mesa, Sam Jr. (Kaete) King, Shelly (Noah) Sandhoff and her great-grandchildren Zaliah, Ashton, and Cooper Rowlands, Michael and James Mesa, Sage Sandhoff, Mason King, Tristan Sandhoff, Tommy, and Iris King.
Dolores enjoyed dancing with Ernie, especially the Tango, and occasional trips to the Chicken Ranch for a fun afternoon of light gambling. She loved solving puzzles whether it was fixing the washing machine, repairing yard sprinklers, or completing Crosswords and Sudoku’s. She challenged herself memorizing US Presidents, States, and Capitals alphabetically forwards and backwards, and learning other Jeopardy worthy trivia. Almost daily, she played cards “Hand and Foot” and “That’s It”, with her chief rivals Karen and Sam guessing who’d win the pot at month’s end. Family loved her Coconut Cream, Pumpkin and Lemon Meringue pies, and she relished times when she was with her beloved nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
She was a quiet soul devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary praying a daily Rosary for her concerns, and her family’s needs and blessings for over 60 years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Widowed Persons Assoc. of CA and the Stockton Singles social and dance club.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Antone Regello, sisters and brothers-in-law baby Beatrice Regello, Marjie (Al) Dickman, Edie (Mike) Borras, Lisa (Gil) Simoni, brother Ed (Didi) Regello, nephews Bob Regello and Tim Dickman, son-in-law Michael McDonough and husband Ernest Camara. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Bob) Rowlands, Karen (Sam) King, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Alice Valverde and Karen Camara and numerous nieces, nephews, their families, and dear friends.
The Rosary and Memorial Service will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St. in Stockton at 10:30am on March 31, 2023. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Hospice of San Joaquin in appreciation for the staff who were of assistance to the family in Dolores’ final weeks.
