Dolores Leigh Corra

Stockton, CA

June 29, 1931 – March 10, 2015

Dolores Corra passed away on March 10 in Stockton following an illness. Dolores Leigh Joy was born and raised in Ventura, California, the daughter of Edwin & Katharon Joy. Dolores came to Stockton in 1948to attend College of the Pacific, where she met her future husbandRobert “Bob” Corra. After graduating, the couple married and settled

in Linden. Both teachers, the couple enjoyed life in Linden, and had 3

children. Dolores taught a variety of grades, and her experience included

working as a reading specialist, elementary teacher, working with youth

at CYA, and teaching English as a second language at the Stockton Adult School.

Dolores was caring and pleasant to all her met her, and took great interest

in others’ well being and education. She truly loved being a teacher.

She was an accomplished seamstress and loved needlework and craft

projects. She collected miniatures and doll houses, and was involved in

music her entire life. She was a member of Haute Couture, Garden Club,

AAUW, and active in Rainbow with her daughter. She was a supporter

of the Stockton Symphony, and performed with the Stockton Chorale for a time.

She is survived by Sons Robert (Christin) Corra of Virginia Beach, Va;

Michael (Cynthia) Corra of Linden;

Nephew Alan Thompson of Stockton; Grandson Austin Corra of Virginia

Beach; Granddaughters Stephanie (George) Greaves of Copperopolis;

Christina (Scott) Amarant of Santa Rosa; and Great Grandchildren Addie

& Henry Amarant of Santa Rosa. She is preceded in death by her

husband Robert Corra and daughter Carol Ann Corra.

Visitation Sunday, March 15th, 11:00 – 5:00 at De Young’s Chapel,

601 N. California Street. Funeral Service Monday, March 16th, 11:00 am

at Linden United Methodist Church, Linden, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Friends who wish to donate to charity in lieu of flowers may donate to Hospice

of San Joaquin or charity of their choice.
