He was a long time Stockton resident.
Eric was born September 22, 1942, in Stockton, CA to Vivian & Al Johnson. He attended elementary thru high school in Stockton, graduating from Stagg High School in 1960. Upon graduation he attended Cal Berkeley where he was a member of Kappa Delta Ro fraternity. He transferred his senior year to San Jose State where he graduated with honors and a BS in Business. It was in San Jose that he met his beautiful wife, Phyllis. Pretty sure she knocked him out with her personality, beauty, and kind heart. While serving in the CA Army National Guard they dated and became engaged. They married in 1967 and made their home in Stockton. Eric joined his father in running their business, Valley Pattern & Augustine Brass. He maintained that business until 2016 when he retired.
Eric, Phyllis and daughters, Kristine & Erin, enjoyed many holiday celebrations, family vacations and were very active in VASA Order of America, a Swedish cultural organization. Eric held many local & district offices before becoming a Grand Lodge Executive Board Member, Grand Lodge Deputy, Vice Grand Master and finally serving a 4-year term as Grand Master. He led the organization with passion and dedication. He and Phyllis enjoyed the many friends they had made through their years in VASA. He loved his Swedish heritage and sharing a good Ollie & Lena joke with friends. He was also active in the Engineers Club and served several times as President. He enjoyed meeting with these friends weekly until his move from the area.
Eric passed away November 4, 2025 with his family by his side. He loved his family dearly and was preceded in death by his amazing wife Phyllis, whom he has missed dearly. He is survived by daughters Kristine & her husband Corey; Erin & her husband Kenji, as well as grandchildren Austin, Carson & husband Blake, Hayden, Madison, Talan, Grayson and great grandson, Hayes Maverick.
