

Floyd Hudgen was the only child born to Tobe and Necy Hudgen on July 4, 1932 in Somerville, Texas. Floyd attended and graduated from school in Somerville. He served in the United States Army from 1950 until 1953 when he was honorably discharged. After the Army, he decided to settle in Los Angeles, California. He worked for the city of Los Angeles as a welder. He enjoyed his work so much he would do jobs on the side, until he decided to start his own business. Floyd had an entrepreneuial sprit. He worked two or three jobs at a time and bought property in lower income areas in Los Angeles, where he kept up the property repairs himself in his spare time. Floyd met Deborah Williams about 50 years ago, but the timing wasn't right, so he waited until they could be together and on September 29, 2001 they were married. Floyd would often say that they were soul mates and anyone who knew them could tell it was true. Having accepted Christ at a young age, Floyd became a member of Progressive Community Church in 2005. Floyd was a hardworking quiet man with an unassuming strength. He was the center of the family, even though he was a man of few words. He was a spirited man, loved, admired and respected by all who knew him. Floyd could tell quality in everything around him and although he was unassuming he was secure in himself and his family. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Tobe and Necy Hudgen and one stepson. Floyd's memory will be cherished by his wife; Deborah Williams Hudgen, Stockton, CA and one son; Ricky Hudgen, Bedford, TX, five stepdaughters; Millie Lipkin, Bedford, TX, Sheila Abu (Zuhair), LaVern, TN, Denise Vashaun, Los Angeles, CA and Eleanor Turner, Little Rock, AK, three stepsons; Larry Williams, Los Angeles, CA; Jesse Williams, Stockton, CA and George Monk, Ontario, CA and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
