Jesus (Jesse) Zavala, died comfortably and surrounded by family on Thursday, August 30th at St Joseph’s Memorial Medical Center in Stockton, Ca. at the age of 81. Jesus is survived by his sons, Jesus & Rodrigo Zavala, daughter, Patricia Angeles, grandchildren, Felipe, Rylee, Alex, Brittany, Joshua, Nathan & Ruby, and older sister Celsa. Jesus is preceeded in death by his wife Theresa, parents, Dolores & Antonia Zavala, and most recently, younger brother, Francisco, in June of this year.
Jesus was born on July 29th, 1937 in Cerano, Guanajuato, Mexico. He immigrated from Mexico to Stockton, Ca in 1961. He worked as a forklift driver for various San Joaquin Canaries for 40 years and was a valued member of the 601 Teamsters Union.
His family and friends remember him as a hard working provider and a charismatic joker who loved to laugh and who’s love of his siblings was beyond compare. This was most apparent in the special brotherly bond with his youngest sibling, Francisco.
Visitation will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 from 2-6pm followed by a Rosary at 6pm that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 14th, 2018 at 10am at St. Gertrude Catholic Church 1663 E. Main St., Stockton followed by a committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
