Jose is survived by his wife, Olga Luisa; children, Olga Maritza Teresa, and Jose Antonio II (Adriana); grandchildren, Apollo Jose, Trinity Maxima, and Valentina Lucia; sister, Maria Socorro Torres (Miguel), and brother, Cecilio Alicea Jr.
Jose was born on November 14, 1943, in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Cecilio Alicea and Maxima Otero. He was brought up in a very loving and faithful family. He attended Catholic school in Puerto Rico, under the guidance of the Salesians, Don Bosco, then entered the Salesian Oratorio in the Dominican Republic. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a degree in Business Administration. Jose served in the armed forces, completing his service as a Sergeant, a Vietnam Veteran. On Christmas Day of 1970, he married Olga Luisa Jimenez. The couple had two children, Olguita and Jose, to whom they fostered their faith and love for God and family. Jose was a generous individual who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and wanted nothing but to experience every moment just giving himself to them without any reservations. His family remember him as a patient, loving, and non-judgmental person who encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue their goals and dreams, always trusting in God.
He moved to Stockton, California the first of January of 1980. Beginning a new year and a new life for the family, they went to mass at St. Luke's Church, which became his lifelong parish to whom he was so devoted.
He was an active 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4784, having served as a Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator and District Deputy dedicated to assisting the church and local community.
A viewing is scheduled for 5:00 pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2022, followed by the Rosary at 6:00 pm at St. Luke's Catholic Church, in Stockton, California. The Mass for Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 22, 2022, at St. Luke's Catholic Church. The Committal will follow with the procession heading over to the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, in Stockton.
