Born in Shanghai, China, Leo immigrated to the United States to escape the communist regime. After overcoming adversity and misfortune, he established himself in the Bay Area where he met Marie, who would become his loving wife of over 60 years.
As their family grew, Leo and Marie made their move to Stockton. Through hard work and integrity, Leo was a provider in every sense—building a successful business, while placing a priority on family and faith.
Leo loved fiercely and unselfishly, always humble and quietly generous. Leo was an avid gardener, a gifted photographer, and a prolific inventor. He was a skilled international cook who loved nothing more than preparing abundant meals for family and friends. He was creative, artistic, inventive, resourceful, and ingenious. He shared his passion for fly-fishing and making stained glass with anyone who wanted to learn, offering his time and materials to help people develop in their personal growth.
Leo was most proud of the legacy he leaves in the character of his children, Michael and Edee, and his grandchildren, Sarafina, Luke, Ella, and Maya. To them, he passed on the intangible gifts of thoughtful wisdom, deep faith, and moral clarity— with a touch of pragmatic skepticism.
Leo will be deeply missed. May his memory always be for a blessing.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation, in Leo’s honor, to the St. Mary’s High School Chapel in Stockton, California.
