Loraine Dona DeMattei, 94, passed away quietly in her home on September 10, 2015. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was born in Drumright, OK and 75 years ago she moved to California where she met the love of her life, Lawrence DeMattei, who preceded her in heath. Also preceding her in death, her baby Lawrence DeMattei, Jr., her daughter Virginia Venness, her son-in-law Harrold Venness, her brother Carl Austin, her sister Leota Leonardini and her beloved brother and sister in laws. She is survived by her daughter Janet DeMattei Cervo (Gordon), her son Harrold Douglas (Geri), grandchildren David Miller, James Miller (Stefani), Anthony Bacci, Dante Bacci (Marilu), Michael Bacci (Michele), Jana Frontella (Todd), Anthony Cervo, Sharon Graciano (Hugh), Patricia Douglas and Daniel Douglas (Debbi), and eight great-grandchildren who lit up her life. She converted to Catholicism, loved the Lord and was proud to be Catholic. Loraine loved to travel, play bridge, read, golf, sew and cook for family and friends. She and Lawrence were founding members of the Stockton Water Ski Club. Oh how they loved boating! Before retiring she enjoyed working for Bank of America as an appraiser. A special thank you to her bridge/birthday lunch friends who were so loving and kind when her vision deteriorated, her primary in-home caregiver Joyce and her part time caregiver Helen who gently cared for her until death. Thank you to Hospice of San Joaquin who not only surrounded her with compassion, but also all of us, her family who are still here remembering and missing her. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to Hospice of San Joaquin. Please sign guestbook at www.deyoungchapels.com
