Beloved father, Louis Hernandez, passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2025 at the age of 98. He was born in Penjamo Guanajuato, Mexico on July 8, 1926. He would often reminisce and share stories of the good old days when he grew up in the country areas of Tracy and French camp. As he looked back, he enjoyed a life like that of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. They made their own rafts and traveled on the river. Those were the days when there were no fences and he and his brothers would hunt and fish with their own handmade spears, bows and arrows. He was a medic in the Army Air Corps during WW2. Louis was employed as a supervisor in the local cannery which changed names numerous times and retired after 42 years. Louis and his wife Ernestine married in 1950 and enjoyed going to dances, movies and picnics with family and friends. They were happily married for many years until Ernestine’s death. Louis was a long-time volunteer at St. Joseph’s Medical Center and was a volunteer and supporter of St. Mary’s Dining Room.
Louis was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah L. Hernandez. He is survived by sons Louis E. Hernandez, Edward T. Hernandez, Kurt Hernandez and numerous grandchildren.
