with his siblings Robert and Marion.Lou is preceded in death by

Velasquez, his sister-in-law, Beverly Stone, and great grandchildren,
nieces and nephews. Lou is also remembered by Theresa Shoneff,
Julia Shoneff, Edward Steinocher and Sophie Shoneff.
Lou graduated from Saint James High School in San Francisco in 1940.
He served as a Cadet-Midshipman in the Merchant Marines during WWII,
and graduated in 1945 from Kings Point in Long Island, NY, between two
tours at sea. Lou always enjoyed the pursuit of knowledge and the
sportsmanship of athletics. In 1983, he earned a B.A. in Management
at St. Mary’s College. And in 2001, he was inducted into the Kings Point
Athletic Hall of Fame for his role on the basketball team.
When Lou met Audrey Ossman, he swept her off her feet and away from
another engagement. They married in June 1945. His love for his wife knew
no bounds – ‘all my love, all my life’was how he signed every card to her.
Lou’s career in the pharmaceutical wholesale industry continued when he
moved to Stockton in 1950 to work as a salesman for Valley Wholesale
Drug with his cousin Ed Burke. He became sole owner in 1981. His sons
Stephen and Joseph worked with him to run a successful company.
Lou was a great leader and he had great appreciation for his employees.
Since he so enjoyed working, he never truly retired and continued to
‘work’ until his last days.Prior to his battle with dementia, Lou was a loving,
larger-than-life patriarch who always made family gatherings special. He
was a huge sports fan; playing, coaching and organizing backyard
games for his grandkids. A favorite sport of Lou’s was horseracing, and
a day at the track was a common family outing. Lou was also an active
and generous member of his community. He was a devoted parishioner
at St. Bernadette’s, where he and Audrey served as lectors. He had a great
sense of humor, a friendly demeanor and he enjoyed talking with people
wherever he went. He found life and people to be so interesting.
The Shoneff family sincerely thanks Lou’s helpers who lovingly cared for him
and kept him looking dapper: Debbie, Ruth, Nina, Cintia, Sam, Angelina,
and his grandchildren, Louis and Nicole.
