Luis was born on Dec. 16, 1951, in Michoacan, Mexico, but was raised in San Joaquin County since the age of 10. Luis is preceded in death by his parents Luis Zapien (1982) and Otilia Zapien (2008). He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, his daughter and son in law, his son and daughter in law, 7 grandchildren, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Luis was a local business owner for almost 30 years. He worked 7 days a week, 360 days a year, only taking the 5 major holidays of the year off. He was an extremely hard worker, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was very friendly and was loved by many. Luis spent the majority of his life at his place of business, missing important milestones and moments in his family's lives. Luis worked hard in order to provide his loved ones with a better life. He sacrificed himself by working in the most uncomfortable conditions, exposing himself to the elements on a daily basis. Even though, Luis worked hard and in the most undesirable conditions, he planned to continue to work for many years to come. Sadly, Luis' life was callously and brutally taken from him, leaving loved ones behind with an empty void that will never be filled.
