Mary Elizabeth Trainor

Mary "Liz" Trainor passed away on March 21, 2016 in the care of Hospice of San Joaquin. She was 80 years old. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Edith Asborno and Frank Asborno and her brother Louis Asborno. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Don, and her children Mike Poe, Christine Robinson (Stewart), Cheryl Mussa (Tony) and Jeff Trainor. She leaves behind her best friend, Mary Ann Hovis (Dick) and a sister, Deanne Asborno of Vermont and her beloved nieces and nephews, Linda Priest (Bob), Marty Asborno (Renee), Becky Stockman (Ray), and Andy Asborno and their children. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Vanessa, Valerie, and Vincent and their spouses and children. Liz retired from State Farm Insurance in Bakersfield, California and moved back to Stockton in 2012, after having lived away from her hometown for several years. She lived many years in Southern California and Brookhaven, Mississippi where she was active in St. Francis Catholic Church. Liz was born and raised in Stockton and graduated from Stockton College. She was blessed to have an amazing family and a loving husband, Don, who was a devoted caregiver until the end. She enjoyed playing cards and was always up for fun and travel. She enjoyed helping Don promote his artwork and shared his passion for vintage Cadillacs. Her greatest joy in life was her family and friends, who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel at 601 N. California Street, in Stockton, California. A Rosary and Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 beginning at 9:30 am at St. Luke's Catholic Church at 3847 N. Sutter Street in Stockton followed by a service at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery at 719 E. Harding Way in Stockton. Immediately following services, a celebration of life will be held at the Italian Athletic Club of Stockton at 3541 Cherryland Avenue in Stockton. Liz requested that donations be made to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
