Matthew Joseph Swanson

April 13, 1968, the youngest of 6 children.

Matt was an operator room nurse at Kaiser Hospital in Modesto. He had worked for Dameron Hospital, San Joaquin General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital.

Matt was universally liked and respected by his co-workers, friends and family. His loss has left us devastated and heartbroken.

Matt loved to tinker -- his nickname was MacGiver because he could fix almost anything. He used old restaurant vegetable oil to run his diesel truck and his diesel Mercedes.

Matt met his wife Emily at San Joaquin General Hospital where they both worked. They spent part of the honeymoon on the Tonight Show where Emily famously showed Jay Leno her misspelled rear tattoo: "Mutt."

Matt and Emily loved to travel: Alaska, Japan, Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico, France and Canada.

Matt is survived by his wife Emily, his mother Harriet, brothers Dwight, Rod, Norm and Dave, his sister Malia and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Matthew will be held on Monday 6/30/2014 from 10am – 6pm followed by the Rosary at 6pm at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel 7676 Shoreline Dr. Stockton CA. Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 3847 N. Sutter St. Stockton CA on Tuesday 7/1/2014 at 10am
