

Nicholas Edward Frerich passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2015. The son of a banker and registered nurse, Nick attended St. Francis De Sales elementary and high school in Ossian, Iowa, Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and earned his architectural engineering degree in Chicago. Employed by H.H. Robertson in Connersville, Indiana, he was transferred to Stockton in 1971. In later years he served as scheduler of events and facilities at Presentation Parish.
Nick married Rosemary Margaret Leahy on August 3, 1963. They were the parents of three sons, Scott Andrew, Philip Louis, and Mark Nicholas. Nick was extremely proud of his family and their achievements, his German heritage, and his Catholic faith. He was a role model for his sons, instilling in them his love of family, an appreciation of faith, his positive attitude, his sense of humor, and a knowledge of right and wrong. He was known for his gift of infinite patience. Nick belonged to the Knights of Columbus for over 56 years, achieving the rank of Fourth Degree as a member of the O’Connor Assembly at Presentation Parish. As a Eucharistic Minister, he administered communion to the sick for more than 20 years.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Eleonora (Etteldorf) Frerich, and infant brother, John. Nick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosemary, son Scott (Sally), grandchildren Daniel and James, son Philip (Kendra), grandchildren Brooklyn and Adam, son Mark (Cassi), three grandchildren, and sister Mary Ann Allison (Craig).
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Medical Center and Community Hospice for their loving care. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Presentation, West Benjamin Holt Drive, on Friday, January 23, at 10:00 A.M.
