

She attended Edison High School and graduated in the 1967 class. While at Edison she was a member of the Track Team and Threw the Shot-Put. She also loved to play softball and participated on many teams in Stockton. Phyllis graduated from Delta College and received an A.A. Degree.
She worked for Laidlaw Transportation as a driver and was promoted to head dispatcher and she traveled to many states in the U.S. She was employed by Laidlaw for approximately 25 years.
Phyllis made many friends over her lifetime and was well liked and loved by all who knew her. She always had a smile to greet you and was generous and kind to everyone.
Phyllis became ill approximately 9 years ago. No disease could break her spirit for life. She continued to be an inspiration to all that knew her. When the Lord called Phyllis home she was ready for it. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Hughes; brothers, Milton Paul Hughes and Arthur Hughes. Phyllis is survived by her brothers, Lawrence and Raymond Hughes; sisters, Christine Turner, Henrietta Hodge and Rose Peterson; 16 Nieces and Nephews; 31 Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews and a host of other family and friends.
