

Roger Gordon Brandt, 81 of Herald, California passed away peacefully on May 02, 2015 after a short illness. He was born June 16, 1933 in Rugby N. Dakota to Bert and Blanche Brandt, the youngest of three children. He spent his youth in Oak Grove, Oregon after moving there with his family. He joined the National Guards in 1950, after which he joined the Navy in 1951. He was transferred to Stockton, CA where he met his wife,Patricia (Maynard) Brandt. Roger served during the Korean conflict aboard the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier with the pacific fleet. After being discharged from the Navy, the couple settled in Stockton where he worked as a painter, and later started his own business as a painting contractor. He was active in little league with his son, and spent many summers camping with his family. Roger loved hunting, and was an avid fisherman. He taught himself to carve, and produced beautiful sculptures of fish. After retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling in their RV and fished whenever possible. He loved to go fishing with his wife and buddies, and often supplied fresh salmon to his family and friends. They met a lot special people on their trips, many of whom became good friends. Their later years were spent between California and Oregon where he continued to fish, visit his family, played cards, and continued to carve. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Maynard) Brandt, two children Roger (JoAnn) Brandt of Stockton, and Marta (Alan) Benson of Herald. Four grandchildren, Sierra & Lucas Brandt, and Christopher & Jacob Benson, brother in law Richard (Betty) Maynard, and many nieces and nephews. Roger is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Virgil, and sister Phyllis. Roger will be greatly missed by his family and friends.The family will be having a celebration of his life on Sunday May10th at 2:00 PM at 12012 Madi Lane Herald, CA.
