Ronald Franklin Murdoff

Ron was a devoted husband to the late Donna Mae Eppler Murdoff, loving father to Kevin and Sherrick Murdoff and their spouses Jenny Soon Murdoff and Allison Dawn Murdoff, caring grandfather to Margaret (Maggie) Murdoff, Matthew (Matt) Murdoff, and the late Charlotte (Char) Murdoff, dedicated brother to Marilyn Mansfield, and Kenneth Murdoff. He was 87 years old.

Ron was born on January 10th, 1938, in San Pedro, CA, to Harold Franklin Murdoff and Virginia Pearl (Flint) Murdoff. He grew up in Napa, CA, where he distributed the Napa Register newspaper as a youth. After graduating from Napa High School in 1956, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from San Francisco State University in 1960. He later earned a Master’s degree in Theology from the Pacific School of Religion in 1962 followed by a Master’s degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University in 1965.

He met Donna at a church retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains in 1959. They were later married on July 21st, 1962, after she graduated from UC Berkeley. They raised two sons and actively participated in their numerous activities. Ron was a YMCA Indian Guides Tribal Leader and coached several Little League baseball and AYSO soccer teams.

Ron was passionate about helping others. He felt that through teaching, he was empowering others to help themselves. In 1965, Ron began teaching Psychology at San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) where he taught for 34 years, later serving as President of the San Joaquin Delta College Scholarship Foundation, and eventually retiring from Delta in 1999. In addition to teaching, he also led the administration of the SAT and ACT college entrance exams at SJDC for over 20 years. And he taught at the Deuel Vocational Institute for many years, helping inmates achieve a degree to better themselves for when they returned to society.

His family would like to thank all of the people who helped him in his final weeks of life. These people include the staff at O’Connor Woods, the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the staff at Lodi Memorial Hospital. Their care and support are very much appreciated.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for March 28th, 2025 at 1 pm at the Central United Methodist Church, 3700 Pacific Ave, Stockton, CA 95204. Pastor Sungho Lee will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ron’s life.
