Thomas Lester Whitley was born and raised in Texas but became a residence of Stockton, California. He passed away on December 12, 2014 at the age of 54.
Life
Shortly after graduating from high school, Tom enlisted and served in the U.S Navy for 6 years. After getting out of the service, he married Sharon and they had four beautiful children, 3 boys and 1 girl. He loved going to church and had his own church when he was younger. Tom owned and operated his own appliance and Air Conditioning Company for a few years. He later decided to go back to school and achieved his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of the Pacific. After receiving his bachelor degree, he started substituting for several elementary and high schools in the Stockton and Lodi school district. Six years ago Tom met and married his wife Chona. For the past 6 years, he has worked as a correctional officer for the state of California.
Tom was always ready to help people in need. He loved to work on computers and design programs. He enjoyed flying remote control airplanes with his son, and playing video games and going to the movies with his kids.
Tom was a hard worker whether it was during work hours or when he was off work. He was quick to fix things around the house. He loved to barbeque and creates new meals.
As a young boy, he liked to ride horses and motorcycles. Tom learned to play the trumpet while in high school and was part of the high schools marching band. He also loved to play the trumpet and Saxophone in church.
