Violet Natividad Juanitas Dutra

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of VIOLET NATIVIDAD JUANITAS DUTRA, age 98, on May 5, 2025. She was born on Dec. 25, 1926, in Stockton, California, to Cirilo Yongque Juanitas and Mary Esteban Peres. After numerous degrees and a 50-plus year career in the nursing profession, she retired in 1986 as San Joaquin Delta College’s Director of Nursing Programs and Chairperson of the Health Sciences Division. Violet married Dante Torres in 1958 and had twin daughters, Maria Teresa Torres and Lisa Annette (Torres) O’Brien. The marriage was dissolved in 1962. She later married Harry G. Lawrence in 1975, who passed away in 1994. Violet then married Donald Dutra, Sr., in 2000, and he passed in 2007. Violet was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters and three grandchildren: Laura (O’Brien) Butler, Logan O’Brien, and Sarah O’Brien.

All services will be held at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, CA 95219, 209-472-0335. Visitation will be held on May 28 from 3pm to 7pm with a Session of Shared Memories at 5pm. Chapel Service will be held on May 29 at 11am followed by a Graveside Ceremony at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E. Harding Way, Stockton, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) Museum at PO Box 4616, Stockton CA 95204, of which she was a founding member.
