Vandy is survived by his children, Kristi and Jeff Houston, Kevin Van Dewark, Robyn and Joe Moshier; his grandchildren Andy Houston and his wife Jorden Bowe-McLeod; Hannah Van Dewark; Emiko Moshier; his sister Debbie Robinson and her husband Jon Robinson; nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Wade Leandrew VanDewark Sr, his mother Beverly “Honey” Ioppini, his stepfather Bruce Ioppini and his brother Daniel VanDewark.
He was born on January 15th, 1943, in Stockton, California. Vandy enlisted in the Navy, which was one of his many loves. He served honorably for 24 years attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. During his service, he traveled the world which provided fodder for his many stories and also received his college degree from Chaminade College. His children remember him as a loving, driven, hardworking, funny Dad who always encouraged them to pursue their goals and demonstrated how proud he was of them often.
Vandy was an accomplished baritone and loved singing, in shows at the Stockton Civic Theater and with his family and friends. He was witty and loved using his quirky sayings. He loved sushi almost as much as watching Westerns, playing cards and anything John Wayne.
