Bryon was born the third child of eleven to Russel and Floreda Thompson of Kirkfield, Ontario. Byron attended schools in Victoria Road, Kirkfield, Bolsover and Fenelon Falls. He went to work on road construction in 1967 and continued until 1973. Byron married Jo-Anne Kot in 1970, and to this union had two sons: James and Jeff. In 1973 Byron started driving truck and continued until 2008. Byron enjoyed his motorbike, camping, fishing and getting together with family. He was a true trucker at heart as you could tell by his collection of miniature trucks and cars. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2001. He continued to work until 2008 when he started chemo treatments. Byron was a Born Again Christian and was very happy when Tiana, his granddaughter, came to live with them.
