Candice (Candy) Lorraine Chester passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2025 surrounded by her family at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta. Candy was born on September 10, 1951 to Ross (d. November 21, 2021) and Chris (d. March 13, 2016) Magnus and was the oldest of four children; Terry Ann (Mark) Temrick, Len (Carol) Magnus and Glen Magnus (d. June 23, 2021).
Candy was raised in Golden, BC and that is where she met and married her first husband Walter Dmyterko. In 1981 Candy, with her mom, dad and daughters moved to Albera and made her home in Spruce Grove. Here is where she met and married Albert Treit (d. 1992) and moved to what is referred to as “the farm”. She spent many years working as a server in and around Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.
Candy is remembered fondly as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her passions were her grandchildren, family turkey dinners and bingo where she would talk to everyone. She loved to cheer her grandchildren on in whatever activity they were participating in, whether it was football, dance, hockey, ringette, lacrosse, swimming….
Candy is survived by her husband Gene Chester of 27 years, daughters Tina (Clay) Genge and their children Jennifer and Tyler; Tammy Dmyterko and her children Reiley and Casandra with Toby Parrill, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
