I was shocked and saddened to hear of the demise of Chris ‘the cat’. 
I knew him during our formative years and learned many useful life skills such as smoking colts, shooting pool and drinking peach brandy after ‘tapping’ at the liquor store.

What can I say about Chris? Well, he was one of my best friends. We met about 40 years ago in a Cost Accounting class & immediately hit it off. We started playing racquetball together, having beers & beef jerky at the Strath, hiking & camping, helping him move (9 times at last count),  bottling & sampling his homemade wine, & many other activities. In fact, I still have one bottle he dubbed Rhubarb Rhapsody from when he lived in Richie. After that particular bottling session, I had to crash there & so we didn’t get up until Sunday afternoon, largely hungover, and then went to the Bul-Go-Gi house for “breakfast”. I’d never been there before & Chris encouraged me to try the Kim-Chi, saying it was really good. I didn’t know it was spicy. So, I tried it & my mouth & throat lit up with fire – he roared with laughter! Bugger. After that he said to have some bean sprouts, that’ll help cool it, which it did. I never went back to the Bu-Go-Gi House for 10 years after that. When I did, I was prepared & tentatively tried the Kim Chi again, immediately followed by the bean sprouts this time. It was not bad, and I started developing a taste for it. The Bul-Go-Gi House ended up being one of our favourite go-to restaurants to meet up at, but I’ll never forget that first experience trying Kim-Chi with a hangover & the way he threw back his head & howled, knowing he got me. Then he’d do that smirk & look down & to the left before looking back up & saying something witty. We had a lot of fun together. He was someone you could count on too, his word meant something. If he said he’d do something or be there for you, he always would, never fail. I consider myself so fortunate to have crossed paths with him those many years ago and been able to share so many good times with him. My life was richer for it.

My heart goes out to you Lynn, and the family. Chris will be greatly missed.

Sue’s tribute reminded me of the time that we golfed out at Cougar Creek with a couple of my neighbours (where he may or may not have used some creative accounting in the scorekeeping). Chris’ horse skills sure came in handy on the way home, when we rescued a horse caught in a wire fence across from Kim’s #1.  That horse didn’t even look back when it got freed, but it was sure lucky that Chris was there to know what to do.

RIP and love, Chris.  You left too soon.

Chris shared many stories with me of his travels overseas. It was easy to tell that he loved seeing the world with his family.  He spoke often of his joy of boating at Baptiste Lake and riding his horse at the farm.  He was very proud of his wine making, although it was a rare occasion that one would share that pride. Chris found joy and humor in just about everything. I was fortunate to share some of his humorous stories during a round of golf or taking a break from work over lunch.  I first met Chris at ThermoDesign  Engineering where he worked across the hall from me.  As his office was only a few feet away, I could hear many of his conversations often saddled in laughter.  His laugh was infectious.  
I will miss Chris, his stories his laughter.  He was a good friend.

Robert and myself first met Chris when we travelled to Vietnam & Cambodia, on one of our first adventures with Chris & Lynn. Chris’ humour, kindness, and outgoing personality will be cherished forever. We are deeply thankful and privileged to have had another opportunity to travel to India with Lynn & Chris on what would be our last adventure all together, sadly. We will both hold on to these fond memories and hope to continue on more adventures with Lynn, for Chris would only want us to. It was a privilege to know Chris.  He shared with me great perspective and wisdom and for that I'm grateful.  I will miss Chris very much.

Chris had a welcoming smile and genuine interest in others. I always felt welcome when as neighbors I'd drop in for a few minutes to chat with Lynn and Chris sharing the love of country living and horses.

Lynn and family, we are so sorry for your loss. All the  CDS Boys were on the livestream and remember all the fun times we had as a team, and Chris was a big and great part of that. We will miss his indelible smile and fun loving demeanor. He will be missed.

Chris was an amazing man with a great sense of humour.   I will forever miss our chats on Family, travel, work, and current events which always ended with a good laugh and Chris saying 'think pleasant thoughts'.   My sincerest and deepest condolences to the whole Family.  He will be dearly missed.

I will dearly miss my good friend.  He was always there for me and loved very much.  Many a laugh shared around a fire, a pasture of horses, a gourmet meal and excellent homemade wine, not to mention a couple of workplaces.  He was very worldly and full of great advice.  Most of all, always watched over me and gave the best advice.    I know he will be watching over us all.  

I first met Chris when my Dad hired him in the mid 80's as a bookkeeper/accountant/CFO for his company. He  was still going through his schooling for accounting, but my dad saw something in him that was going to work . During those years, I realized that accountant geeks can also be a rebel, be a free spirit and destroy every preconceived attitude about accountants.  During this time, I learnt Chris to be a very loyal person to good people, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for those around them when going through rough times.
Of course, in the 80's, it was the times of 3 martini lunches, fantastic company parties, and that work life and personal life were very intertwined. Chris was always a part of the group that we always hung out with. 
His zest for life was only increased when he hooked up with Lynn,  I saw a bond that could be described as 2 people becoming one. I remember going to visit them at their farm and seeing how much country life suited him. Lynn was the only person that could harness Chris and she did it better than anyone else could have. I saw the devotion they had for each other and knew they had it together. 
I last saw Chris at my mom's celebration of life in 2017, out of the blue, but Chris knew what loyalty was to people that cared about him and I was glad to see him, catch up on old new times, to see how his family has grown and to see his amazing grin that I will never forget.
RIP, my friend, you were truly one of the Good Ones. Your legacy will carry on.
