It is with sad but hopeful hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of James Stanley Racher – lovingly known as Jim. Jim died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, April 3rd. God called him home in the fullness of His time, at the age of 80.
Jim was born on the family farm in Petrolia, Ontario on August 1st, 1945, second of six children born to Stan and Shirley Racher. He was a farmer at heart, who excelled at planting and harvesting at just the right times and who could fix even the most stubborn machinery. As a young man, Jim was a police officer with the OPP, a scuba diver for the Sarnia Police, a mechanic at Podolinsky’s, and a truck driver – eventually founding his own trucking company, Big Iron Transport. Jim was a hard worker who loved the land, the open road, and his family. He served faithfully in the churches he attended throughout his life and died with the assurance that faith in Jesus brings.
The memory of Jim will be cherished by his wife of 46 years Audree Anne Racher, as well as siblings Pat, Connie, Barb and Randy (Lori) and sister-in-law Barb. His legacy will live on with children Paul (Stephanie), Beverly (Jack), Curtis and Lacie (Josh) and son-in-law Randall, as well as 19 loving grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by both of his parents, younger brother John, brothers-in-law Norm and Ron, daughter Terrina, and daughter-in-law Charla.
A service will be held in his honour on Tuesday, April 14th at GraceLife Church (Spruce Grove) at 11:00am. All are welcome to attend.
