Verne was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and spent his young years playing music, driving fast cars, gaining a love of mechanics and explored the ever changing and various trends of the ‘60’s. He met and married his high school sweetheart Brenda in 1970, bought their first home and started a family shortly thereafter. Verne embarked on his career starting out as a heavy duty mechanic apprentice and worked with Alberta Transportation for 26 years. He quickly moved up in his career which led the family to move to Fairview, Airdrie and then finally to Edmonton. Over the years, he had several career and civic accomplishments and recognitions most noteworthy was the Premier’s Award of Excellence.
Verne was the epitome of positivity and optimism and led a very active and full life. After a successful corporate career and consulting company, he retired to his beloved home he and Brenda built at Wabamun lake. An avid boater, Verne had the zest for life and loved embarking on adventures with the goal of creating lasting memories for him and his family. Verne and Brenda enjoyed their travels to Mexico, boating at Wabamun and spending time with family and friends. There was nothing more important to Verne than his family.
