Mary Drahanchuk

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Drahanchuk announces her passing on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Mom (Baba) passed away peacefully at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

On June 5, 1951, Mary and George (Harry) were married and began to raise three children, Terry, Carol, and Darlene. Mary (Baba) always had a smile and a hug for everyone and won hearts through her cooking and baking. Mary was very social and loved most to be amidst all her family. Mary is survived by her son Terry (Donna) of Edmonton, Carol (Doug) Erickson of Stony Plain and Darlene (Allan) Walgren of Edmonton; grandchildren Jill (Trevor), Carmen (Todd), Michael, Marie (Dagen); and great grandchildren, Nolan, Erica, Danika, Makena, Deanna and Blake; her sisters Anne Rocko and Kathleen (Vic) Brezinski, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and close friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Harry.

The family would like to thank the staff at Whispering Waters Lodge in Stony Plain, where she lived, and the Sturgeon Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their dedicated care while Mom (Baba) was in hospital. A special thanks goes to Yvonne Mihalcheon, whose visits were always greatly appreciated and deserving of the hugs Mom gave her.

A celebration of Mary’s Life will take place at a Parkland Funeral Chapel 3502 - 44 Avenue, Stony Plain on Friday, January 11th at 11:00 AM. In Mary’s memory, the family would be grateful for donations sent to the Lung Association, Heart and Stroke or Diabetes.
