Born June18,1934 in Radway, AB
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my sweet father, Dick Fulks, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre, in Edmonton. He was 87 years young.
Richard was the youngest of 10 children born to English Immigrants, Percy and Ethel Fulks, who moved to Canada from Tring, England.
Dick enjoyed a long and successful career in the hospitality industry. He began at the Caravan with Edmonton Northlands, and later took on the role of General Manager at the Grande Cache Hotel. Following this, he spent much of his career and many great years in the leadership role at the Travellers Motor Hotel in Peace River. During this time, he served as President of the Alberta Hotel Association and the Canadian Hotel Association, as well as President of the Peace River and District Chamber of Commerce. He volunteered his time with many service clubs and community groups.
Dick had a sparkling personality with a sharp wit and sense of humour. He was generous, gregarious, and very well liked amongst employees, friends, family, and peers. He was an outstanding cook and a welcoming host. Many guests will tell you that his homemade spaghetti sauce was second to none. Dick loved to travel to warm vacation spots and loved golfing, fishing, gardening, playing cards, watching sports and drinking Coors Light.
He will be dearly missed by his loving daughter, Ashli Jomha, his grandchildren, Nadr, Aaliyah, Noah, and Kareem; two daughters from his first marriage, Sherry and Holly, his best friend Bill Dart, numerous nieces and nephews, sisters in-law and brothers in-law, and many, many friends that he made over the years.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Roberta in 2009, as well as siblings: Bill, Bob, Stan, Edith, Kath, Winn, Betty, Jessie; and Gail, his daughter from his first marriage.
We will plan to celebrate my father’s life in June, when the weather is kinder, and the sun will be shining.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton.
